Why the Daikin Cora is worth buying
The Daikin Cora has been Australia's most widely installed residential split system for several years running.
That is not a marketing claim; it is the result of a product that sits at the right intersection of reliability, efficiency, and price without asking buyers to compromise on any one of them.
Three things make it stand out from the competition at this price point.
First, the enzyme blue deodorising filter. It does more than trap dust actually, the enzyme coating actively decomposes odours and deactivates bacteria on the filter surface making them harmless and propagating a fresh and clean environment.
Comparable models from other brands at this price typically use a basic mesh filter that traps particles and nothing else. The Cora's filter is washable and lasts the life of the unit with regular cleaning.
Second, the Intelligent Eye sensor. A small infrared sensor on the front panel detects whether anyone is in the room, and the room is empty, the Cora adjusts its temperature setpoint by 2 degrees to reduce energy use without turning off completely.
When it detects movement again, it returns to the original setpoint. In a bedroom or home office that is empty for 6 or more hours per day, this translates to a real reduction in running costs over a year without sacrificing comfort.
Third, the warranty. Every Daikin Cora in Australia carries a 5-year parts and labour warranty backed by Daikin Australia's national support network.
Provided the unit is purchased from an authorised dealer and installed by a licensed technician like our Sydney air conditioning service team at Alpha and Omega, you can contact them here.
That covers both the indoor and outdoor units in full for five years with no cost to you for parts or labour on any genuine fault.
Which Daikin Cora size do you need?
The Daikin Cora comes in seven capacities. Each one is a matched indoor and outdoor unit set. The table below covers the most common room types in Australian homes. The rough rule is floor area (m²) multiplied by 0.15 equals your starting kW requirement, adjusted up for high ceilings, poor insulation, or north and west-facing windows.
| Cora size | Model number | Room size | Typical use | Our price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2kW | FTXV20WVMA | Up to 15m² | Small bedroom, study | From $1,262.33 |
| 2.5kW | FTXV25WVMA | Up to 20m² | Master bedroom, home office | Check product page |
| 3.5kW | FTXV35WVMA | Up to 30m² | Medium living area, dining room | Check product page |
| 4.6kW | FTXV46WVMA | Up to 40m² | Large bedroom, medium open-plan | Check product page |
| 5kW | FTXV50WVMA | Up to 50m² | Living area, large open-plan | Check product page |
| 6kW | FTXV60WVMA | Up to 65m² | Large living area, open-plan kitchen/dining | Check product page |
| 7.1kW | FTXV71WVMA | Up to 80m² | Very large open-plan area | Check product page |
The size that suits most Australian master bedrooms is the 2.5kW or 3.5kW. The most common living area purchase is the 5kW or 6kW.

What's included and what isn't
Every Daikin Cora ships as a set: one indoor wall unit, one outdoor condensing unit, and a wireless remote control. That is the complete refrigerant circuit. What the purchase does not include is installation hardware or labour.
For a typical wall installation, your installer will also need copper pipe (sold by the metre based on run length), a wall bracket for the outdoor unit, electrical cabling, and pipe insulation.
Some installers supply these themselves and include them in their labour quote; others ask you to supply the materials. Clarify this before booking.
If you want to order accessories at the same time, our air conditioning accessories range includes Daikin-compatible copper pipe, brackets, and filters. Ordering accessories with the unit in one delivery saves a separate freight charge.
For smaller Cora models (2kW to 4.6kW), Wi-Fi control requires the separately purchased Daikin Wi-Fi adapter ($130 to $152). The 5kW, 6kW, and 7.1kW models include Wi-Fi as standard in the current production run.
Should you buy the Cora or step up to the Alira X?
If the Cora has everything you need, buy the Cora. It is a better product than most people need for a bedroom or a standard living area, and there is no reason to spend more on features you will not use.
The Alira X is worth considering instead if at least one of the following applies: someone in your household has asthma, hay fever, or a respiratory condition; you want smartphone Wi-Fi control without buying a separate adapte...
...or the unit is going in a main living area that runs 8 or more hours per day and you want the Streamer air purification working continuously.
Adds Streamer air purification, built-in Wi-Fi, and Coanda 3D airflow over the Cora. Same 5-year warranty. From $1,179.05.

Why buy from an Authorised Daikin Dealer?
Daikin Australia maintains a network of Authorised Specialist Dealers who are vetted for product knowledge and required to stock genuine Australian-specification units. Buying from outside this network is not illegal, but it creates risk around warranty claims.
When you buy the Daikin Cora from us, the 5-year parts and labour warranty is registered with Daikin Australia, not with our store.
If you need a warranty claim in year four, you contact Daikin's national support network directly. In all actuality, the meaningful difference between a manufacturer's warranty and a retailer warranty is, us, the retailer, don't need to be in business for your warranty to be valid.
We have been an Authorised Daikin Specialist Dealer since 1989. Our team is available 7 days a week on 1300 156 466 for advice on sizing, installation, and any question before or after your purchase.
No call centre; you truly speak to someone who knows the product.
Frequently asked questions
What is the price of the Daikin Cora in Australia?
The Daikin Cora starts from $1,262.33 for the 2kW model at our store. Prices increase with capacity, with the 7.1kW model at the top of the range.
All prices include GST and the 5-year Daikin manufacturer warranty. Select your size on the product page to see the current price for that variant.
What is the model number for the Daikin Cora?
The Daikin Cora's indoor unit model numbers run from FTXV20WVMA (2kW) through to FTXV71WVMA (7.1kW).
The matching outdoor units carry the RXV prefix with the same kilowatt and suffix, so a 5kW indoor unit (FTXV50WVMA) pairs with the RXV50WVMA outdoor unit. Both units come as a set with every purchase.
Does the Daikin Cora have built-in Wi-Fi?
On 5kW, 6kW, and 7.1kW models in the current production run, yes.
On 2kW, 2.5kW, 3.5kW, and 4.6kW models, Wi-Fi requires the separately purchased Daikin Wi-Fi adapter. If built-in Wi-Fi on a smaller unit is important to you, consider the Alira X, which includes Wi-Fi across all sizes without an adapter.
How do I know a Daikin Cora from our store is genuine?
Every unit we stock is sourced directly from Daikin Australia's authorised distribution chain. We are listed as an Authorised Daikin Specialist Dealer on Daikin's own dealer locator.
You can verify our authorised status on the Daikin Australia website. The unit ships in Daikin's original Australian packaging with an Australian-specification serial number that Daikin can verify for warranty claims.
Can the Daikin Cora heat as well as cool?
Yes. Every Daikin Cora in our range is reverse cycle, meaning it both cools in summer and heats in winter using the same system.
The heating capacity is typically 20 to 30% higher than the cooling rating: a 5kW cooling Cora (FTXV50WVMA) delivers 6kW of heating output.
Reverse cycle heating is 3 to 5 times more energy-efficient than a bar heater, making it the most cost-effective way to heat a single room through an Australian winter.
